It’s going to be mostly outdoors, although the very sweaty bits (dancing and Allamata) are happening in air-conditioned indoors areas.
-
It’s Cyprus so the answer is anywhere!
Joking aside,
-at the Allamata you’ll find street parking around the respective neighbourhoods of the Allamata venues.
-at the Chapel there’s a large field right in front of the church. We anticipate some congestion due to the wedding before ours.
-at the Marina we have rented the entire covered parking area exclusively for the wedding.

The venue has promised (or threatened depending on who you are and how you see it) to turn the music off at 03:00. The good news is that you know this will not be a never-ending dance-off, so if at 01:00 you’re starting to feel a bit tired, you know to hang in there… The bad news is that if your regular bed time is at 23:00 (just like the groom’s) then you’re in deep trouble as Steph is a dancing queen and won’t let you leave
New to Cyprus weddings

“Allamata” (or literally translated as “Changing”) is a Cypriot tradition, whereby close family and friends of the bride and groom gather separately in their respective parental homes in overlapping ceremonies that symbolise the parting and blessing of their son and daughter who is moving on to be joined in matrimony to their chosen partner.
The groom and bride are blessed, prepared and dressed (and even shaved in the case of the groom!) for church by the family and the "koumbaroi” (best men) and “koumeres” (maids of honour).
There’s traditional music, dancing and, paradoxically, a few tears (of joy!).
Now, in an outrageous deviation from this tradition, this groom is having his Allamata ceremony the evening before. This has left many people (and future historians) baffled… yes once readied, he cannot take his tux off.
-
The main ceremony (which will last under an hour) is religious (Christian Orthodox) in nature and admittedly difficult to follow. However, the ceremony will take place outdoors, by the sea during sunset next to a beautiful chapel…
-
There is no formal dress code, we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable and stays cool in the hot weather!
If you’re now thinking “Yes but I asked you a question because I want to know what to wear!” then the answer would be that most people tend to wear Cocktail dresses for ladies and shirts / trousers for men. Ties, formal shoes etc can be omitted, but it’s a mixed picture really.
Travelling to Cyprus
-
Larnaca Airport is the most convenient, as we expect most guests will stay in Ayia Napa, Protaras or Larnaca.
-
Renting car is highly recommended for exploring Cyprus, and if you are not used to driving on the left side of the road (same as the UK) then renting an automatic might be a good idea.
For those who do not want to drive to the wedding venue, carpooling with local guests may be an option.

Yes! Here are some links prepared by one of the groom’s best men, Stephanos (he’s a bit shy, go talk to him):

It’s going to be hot (temperatures of around 32-34 Celsius are common in Ayia Napa) and likely humid (blame our phobia on wanting to take zero chances with rain) so make sure you keep hydrated.
